Quick release fuel lines

Whilst at the local dealer (for a dozen copper brake line washers, which cleaned them out! surely they shoul dhave more than 12 in stock?) I noticed a quick release fuel line kit. Looked useful (as I spill a bit of petrol about when taking off tank). Are these any good, and if so, what size do I need for a gsxr 750 SRAD (6mm or 8mm)?

Thanks a million...

Isolating valves, so when you pull the fasteners apart no fuel can flow, rather than the dribble that escapes normally...

Would be advantagous when removing a tank at a trackday, with everything hot...

How much were they? When I looked at a dry break they were big bucks.

I need one for the NC as it has a modded tap which doesn't switch off fully.

About £13 on ebay, just need to know if I need a 6mm or 8mm one...

I've got one on the R1, think it might be made by CPC or something, it's the white thing on the left of the pic

very handy when removing & reinstalling the tank, not a drop gets spilt.

they come in two sizes depending on the diameter of the fuel hose IIRC

Thats the one! Great, I'll get one ordered ASAP. Now anyone know the diameter of suzuki fuel hoses (or i'll measure when I get home)....

I'm pretty sure the 8mm dry break will fit the Suzuki fuel hose, tho I would need to check to be sure... and I'm at work...

no worries. Just remember you'll need to trim the fuel lines down a bit on each side to allow for the extra length [fnnnarrrr!] of the coupling.

I was lucky and got mine from Halfrauds, the top of the packet was ripped and it was reduced to a fiver. Thankyouverymuchta

I've used a couple of these in the past the one I had on my zxr750 was great it was a pukka one from Harris I think, however the last one I bought off ebay and fitted to the Katana caused problems. The bike was ok if you were using it regularly but I left the bike in the garage for about a month and in that time something happened and although the bike would tick over ok as soon as you gave it some it would start to misfire and fuck about, it turns out the valve was restricting flow so much so that you couldn't even blow through it, only a trickle of fuel was getting through. I guess what I'm saying is get a good one and you'll be ok.

The plastic one's are ok, for full technoporn have a look at Jiffy-Tites available from Demon Tweeks, aluminium barbed 3/8". I'm pretty sure you'll need 8mm for the GSXR. Other trick bits worth considering are some sort of long spring that fits snugly over the hose to minimise crimping, full on flash, over to Samco who do Flouro-lined 8mm hose with the coil wound into the hose, will never crimp.

Don't look at Staubli's you'll faint even if you can find someone brave enough to have them in stock!

don't mean to be either a hassle or a stalker but have you fit this already? I'm looking forward to your results to sustain my buying

and the outcome is..........?

OK. Got these fitted, had to cut a little off the hose, to fit to tank end. Extra small hose clips ensure all fits snuggly, appears to work well.

But having tank resting upside down does not appear good for the seal around the fuel pump, which has perished. So send missus down dealers for new rubber gasket (£30!), so I can fit tank properly tonight, turn engine over and change oil in preparation for thursdays trackday... Fun this bike lark aint it?

Ok, due to oil spillage of Exxon Valdez proportions in the garage last night (due to me being knackered, and letting the sump plug drop into the drainage can, blocking it) I didn;t get photos.

But I can confirm the fuel coupling works well, tanks been off and on a couple of times whilst replacing fuel pump gasket, and not a drop more has been spilt. Well worth the money IMO.

Snetterton tommorow, since last trackday bikes had new forks, calipers, Brembo M/C, rear shock, oil change, rearsets and other little bits and bobs. Hope it all works!
