Rich and Matt are first into Pitstop 3 and going well, with James and Nigel not far behind. They're pushing on now, most riders through and heading East towards Preston, with the leaders turning North towards Kendal.

Bob appears to be in Manchester :D

Andrew Dockree's picked up a puncture, but he and the bike are safe in the van and heading to Lancaster for a repair.

Meanwhile James has stopped for fuel near Penrith, a little behind the leaders.

Just a quick post to rattle the tin :)

These guys have already been in the saddle for nearly 12 hours, and there's a loooong way to go yet.

That doesn't even take account of the long hours spent fixing and bodging the bikes to even get to this point, plus the time off work etc etc.

All of this at their own expense, because every penny in donations goes straight to Cancer Research.

Last year we raised over £100,000, and it would be brilliant if we could get near that incredible amount again.

So please, if you possibly can, donate here, even if it's only a few quid. Thank you

Pitstop 4 is all set up and ready to go, the first riders are expected in there shortly.

The last group were some 190+ miles behind a little while ago, so are going to skip the ferry crossing and make up some time.

Now, 190 miles sounds like a huge amount, and it is, but they'd already been riding for 12 hours at that point, so that's only 15 mph different. 10 minutes extra at a stop, letting your average speed drop, and you can see how it creeps up into a huge distance. Hawkati's advice is to keep it pinned all the time, everywhere, and you can see the difference it makes.

All our riders are underway, Dan Carey's bike didn't make the start, so he headed home to begin on his own RS660. Fingers crossed for a smooth journey :)

Absolutely this. I went everywhere at a smidge under the posted limit. I got lost for 2 hours too. I used the entire 24 hours ( and a few minutes more). I was absolutely wrecked.

He's almost an hour behind after the ferry crossing.

More and more riders are arriving at Pitstop 4 ready to catch the ferry, looking good for a reasonable finish.

How the hell do you get a Blackbird for £600???

The criteria was widened a bit this year to include bikes in the spirit of ldc, hence our very own James being able to enter on a £1700 R1 which to be fair was a basket case and fought him all the way.

There was also at Mr McAvoys discretion the opportunity to enter on bikes with sentimental value.

I am envious though considering I did it on a GPZ 500 that wouldn't go above 70 and had a death wobble when braking or if you took your hands off the bars.

Nige Rea's bike is blowing the main fuse, but with a little creative bodging he's on his way again. Fingers crossed for him!

The lead riders are pushing on, nearly half way between Fort William and Inverness now.

At the back I've got Matthew Luker, Andy Camp, Graham Hatch and Harry Tait all heading towards the ferry. Last sailing is 10.30pm and it's still a long way from there.

SRADs blowing fuses. Been there. That big plug under the fairing will be full of corrosion and tracking between connections most likely . Luckily Nige's tonenail clippings know more about fixing bikes than I do though.

Needs the bike to be a wing or a featherbed.  :getmecoat:
