szrdave
I've got a couple of M6 and M8 threads which need repairing, so I'm looking to pick up a couple of thread repair kits or a set which includes both. There seem to be plenty of options, Helicoil, recoil, v-coil, plus some Silverline and Draper kits and cheap sets on eBay. Any recommendations on what to go for? Gobert23
I can't remember the exact name, but the shop always used the Wurth system. Never had one fail... Ah, found 'em 'Time Sert' -> http://www.wurth.co.uk/hand-tools/thread-repair-and-reinforcement/thread-repair-system-time-sert
szrdave
I have heard Timeserts can be more reliable than the coil type inserts, I can see a few problems with them though: They have a shoulder so I'd need to counter-bore the hole to get them flush I don't think you can shorten them They're quite expensive! Evilchicken0
Yes No - well anything can be cut, its the accuracy that gets tricky. Yes - but justifiable
Superdunc
Time sert kits come with a tool to counter bore the hole, they come in different lengths too.
