Ducsenna
Views opinions or experiences please? I have an option on an aluminium one, to replace the bargain eBay one ( shit) . The carbon one has a seam split leak, so need to remove repair and or replace? The Ali one is painted , I'd like to take it back to bare metal? Thoughts Cheers
Redgecko
CF tanks seem to be a pain in the butt, I'd go Ali.
Superdunc
Alloy tank every time, the split carbon tank will be a pain to repair, and likely to split again if the bike is dropped.
dansp1
The other problem with carbon is that ethanol will eat some resins, so if you don't know for sure what it was made with you are taking a big risk
Tomfoolery
Bare ally tank, every time.

Beanerno1
+1 for the ally tank, but what would squire be doing with his damaged cf tank?
Ducsenna
Ok sounds like Ali is the choice de riguer. Is soda blasting the treatment to bring it back to bare then lacquer? I have a good paint shop to ask. Bike is a 1098s red frame, currently plain carbon fairings. Will get quotes on the repair on the cf one .
