szrdave
As with everything involved in this project, it's one step forwards followed by a short jog backwards. The engine is a Yamaha 660cc 5 valve single, and having just put it back in the chassis I was fitting the exhaust. Tightening (not a lot) one of the exhaust nuts, and the whole stud seems a bit loose. Oh cock: That's right, a section of the outside of one exhaust port has come away. The concave face is the part of the port where the header sits. I guess this means dropping the engine (again ), if I were to remove the head does this look repairable? HeadtheBall
Is that a cast iron head??
szrdave
Nope, aluminium. There are a couple of brighter sections, and the rest is quite dark. I wonder if it's been cracked for a while.
HeadtheBall
The is gonna have to come off. Personally I'd look for a replacement head...it might be the cheapest easiest route?
Superdunc
Arse. Should be reasonably easy to repair, but I'd want a bare head, before I attempted the job. Definatly, cup of tea and a biscuit time.
