rd84
Hi, I'm doing a Yamaha RZV500R project. I would like to use a Yamaha R1 (1998) Speedo/Tacho - I've purchased a R1 gearbox speedo sensor. Can someone tell me if this sensor is mounted in the gearbox or does it count front sprocket teeth ? - Does anyone have a photo of how it is mounted please ? I'm hoping to use some of the instructions from the www.RZRD500.com forum to install the R1 speedo / tacho. http://www.rzrd500.c....php?f=3&t=1289 I wanted to see how Yamaha's R1 speedo sensor setup compared with those on the above link. ( I've not read the whole thread but it's looking like the R1 sensor detects a gear in the gearbox ? ) Back to reading the whole RZRD500 thread now and see if I can make sense of it. Many thanks. MonkeyJim
The early R1 speedo sensor reads off the gearbox, not the front sprocket. from memory, it's located on the back of the upper crankcase. other than that I can't help, sorry

blur1
Yep. reads the gearbox and is indeed mounted on the rear of the engine.
