Quick Diagnostic Question..

Boozybloke

So there's this bike, yeah, and it's lights blew, the engine cut out, and now it won't start. Any ideas? Is it likely to be an easy cheap fix or does it sound like an expensive failure?

It's not mine, and that is just the description given in the advert so I don't have any further info, but as a guide to go ask the seller with...?

Cheers

Doesn't matter now, he's sold it already. Twas a 1990 gsxr 400, so probably not the ecu.. thought possibly the rectifier, but I guess we'll never know.

Cheers anyway guys

I'd hasve said reg rec, that allows the charge to spike blowing the lights. Then it fries the wiring from the alternator so the battery isn't charging. The starter motor doesn't work so the engine won't start.

Rectifier? Voltage goes too high, blows the bulbs followed swiftly by the cdi. Common on older Kwaks and Hondas.

Perhaps.....

My Yammy SR125 did this on the M80 one Friday afternoon. 4 miles from home. It was a long push
