tootall
Got the top end off my gpz900 for a rebuild and I now have some options. Rebuild with quick head job Rebuild with 1000rx top end Rebuild with gpz1100 top end Been offered good condition top ends for not much more than it'll coat to redo the 9 Anyone done one of the top end swaps? Any pitfalls or reasons not to do it? Is it worth doing? As far as im aware the top ends are pretty much a bolt on swap, anyone know any different? Pat
The 1000 barrels are a straight swap, but I believe the you'll need to get the top crankcase machined to allow the fitment of the 1100 ones. That belief is based on a very tricked up trackday ZX-10 that featured in PB a few years ago, I recall that he'd fitted a ZZR1100 top end & had to have the cases modded to take the wider liners & the GPZ1100 barrels are the same as the ZZR's Also I'm pretty sure that the GPZ1100 head doesn't have the mounting points in the casting required to bolt it to the 900's frame, think the 1000 does.
