Ian
I've got my hands on a old Kawasaki Z500 and just wondered if anyone could offer any advice about a fueling problem I have with it ??? The bike has standard carbs on it but K&N type filters and no airbox. If you rev the bike on a paddock stand the bike runs cleanly. If you go out for a ride and is smooth with the throttle the bike is fine. If you open the throttle fast the bike just dies. Is there not enough fuel getting into the carbs ??? Or too much air ??? The bike is running standard jets but I don't know if they have been drilled out. Any ideas please.
BudgetBoy
Air filter clean? if so... Clean carb.. main jet could be blocked or a passage way. Check for water in the fuel as well as this will do it. try those 1st
2Smoke
Sounds lean to me. You need to up the main jets. It has a 90 as standard so I'd go up to a 100 and work down from there.
