martzxr
Right I've been given the task of putting a dr125 engine back together, as I didnt strip the engine my head is hurting wondering if I have the cam timing 180 degrees out With the piston at tdc and the timing mark lined up on the flywheel should the cam lobes be pointing up or down? The cam followers are above the cam on rockers
martzxr
Yea that's the thing, I'm presuming its tdc on compression, so looking at the geometry of the valve train I think the lobes should be pointing upwards. A look in a manual would be nice just to confirm it!
cagimaha
Is a DR125 not a single overhead cam using rockers to actuate the valves? If so, in order for the valves to close the cam lobes have to point downwards. It's probably worth trying to download a manual from the interweb. The engine was basically the same on the GN/GS/DR 125 range so any of the manuals should do.
