rsv chris
Hi guys and gals. Does anyone have a workshop procedure for the Topic title above? I'm needing to know if you can take the engine completely to pieces with the clutch basket still on. I can't get the bastard off and now the engine is out the bike. I basically want to strip the engine and gearbox to single components and sell it piece by piece on the bay. Cheers for any help.
MonkeyJim
Not sure about your k5, but I had the same problem with my old R1. Couldn't get the clutch basket ot [ it was a problem with the clutch that caused the engine failure] but managed to work around it. once I had split the crankcases I had sufficent room to get a wooden drift on the back of the clutch basket and drive it off the gearbox input shaft. the full thread is here http://pbmagforum.co...hl=houston&st=0 but you can skip to about page 4/5 where the engine strip down happens. I don't know if the suzuki engines is configured in the same way....?
rsv chris
Cheers Monkey. I read your thread and after seeing what you did, I replicated the procedure. Stripped it in 3 hours, and am now able to sell gearbox crank pistons and cases on the bay. I'm also a lot less affaraid of what's inside a gearbox. I.E sod all really.
