Tomfoolery
In an attempt to fix a dry clutch rattle in a wet clutch I've gone and ripped a section of crankcase out. On these engines, you use a puller to pull the alternator cover off the end of the crank, and I missed a bolt covered in engine oil and chain lube. It's ripped out of the crankcase, and taken some of the crankcase with it. This bit: Untitled by thefooleryoftom, on Flickr Goes here: Untitled by thefooleryoftom, on Flickr NumberOne has suggested using gasket sealant to seal the piece in and using the cover to hold the piece in. The other alternative as told to me by Moto Rapido is to take it somewhere who'll build it up with weld, grind it and tap it in situ. A potentially difficult job given the space constraints and nearby rubber seals. Any suggestions?
