kneedownarsedown
My Cbr600fx has stella mileage 50k on standard untouched and am considering a trip to someone like mct this year. Suddenly thought this week how easy would it be to drop newer forks in at the same time still getting a set up. newer=better and from an bling point of view usd forks would look tidy. Anyone done this before?? and if so which bikes are compatable??
thefatman
It should be a straight forwards swop between your forks and a newer usd one. I fitted a cbr954 front end to my vfr, then a cbr1000rr. Both went straight in, just needed the lock stops sorting out. They are both shorter than the standard forks so will mess with the handling. Remember you need to get a complete front end so thats new forks, yokes, bars, axle as a minimum, then probably wheel, discs and brake calipers/master cylinder unless you want to have spacers made up to fit your old wheel and discs. And the newer forks aren't actually much better than older stuff. It's quite cheap do though as you can sell your old bits to pay for most of the cost. So yes its not to hard to do. It looks better. It might not work any better.
