dsracing
After I came back from'spirited'ride on Saturday I noticed a patch of oil under the zx10r. Further investigations revealed the outside of the sump and assosiated gubbings where covered in fresh oil.Itook the water pump out, still connected to the hoses, and cleaned up the surrounding area as to run up the bike and identify the leak. Run bike up and this time it was leaking water!Repeated the above but got the bike real hot so the water would dry off leaving a stain and a trail to the source of the leak. This worked and the source is a machined hole in the shaft at the back of the pump.I've had it suggested to me that this could indicate that the pump bearings where on the way out.Any ideas?? Also no sign of the oil leak again!! help!!
gook184
The machined hole you mention is probably a tell tale thingy, if water comes out it means the pump's had it I'm afraid. They're not normally too difficult or expensive to change though. Someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly, i shouldn't wonder. Best of luck!
