Thom_1991
Just a quick question Haynes manual says i shouldnt tip the carbs upside down as this might damage the piston diaphragm's? Is this likely as i was gonna swap the main jets but i tipped em up to find the float bowl screws are already chewed up from the garage fitting restrictors presumably and as such i'll leave it alone as long they'll still work as they did! Oh and presumably this is the big seal when you take the carb "tops" off in which case i can easily have a look see.
TheFlymo
I've often wondered if that's bollocks or not, after all the diaphragms will be exposed to fuel vapour throughout their lives. Having said that I always try and keep them upright, and have seen enough dried up manky diaphragms to know that they are a vulnerable component. I've always thought that the obvious reason not to turn carbs upside down is to stop any crap in the float bowls from getting into the jets. Thom_1991
Well i had another go at them and managed to get the bowls off and clean out the jets so it's all good.
