Any suspension specialists? front forks specifically

Just wondering before i waste my local suspension specialists time, the front forks i have are USD and are adjustable for everything bar compression. The spot where the compression adjuster would be is cast but not drilled and fitted. Looking at the pictures of the forks in the parts manual it appears the adjuster could be drilled an fitted by a suspension expert but on looking across suspension websites it seems it might be more sensible to fit a cartridge kit. Perhaps a 20mm kit or perhaps even a gas kit. I've considered other forks but quite like the idea of it been a hidden upgrade.

Any thoughts?

The amount it'd cost getting your forks modified to take an adjuster that's not originally there would be silly in comparison to fitting oem fors off something that does have adjustment, or possibly a cartridge kit. Where the cartridge kit possibly evens itself up though is that if you fit forks off another bike you've got to find spacers etc to get your wheel working on them, then you might find the spring rates and damping is out too. With a cartridge kit you'll have the kit set up to suit from the off. What forks are they and what makes you like them so much?

I'm a bit unsure at present about what the cartridge kit could offer, i've seen a gas kit installed in a supersport bike but it makes use of all the existing adjustment points including the typical compression adjuster. If i dont have one to start with would the cartridge kit add one in another position?

As you guessed, the forks i'm looking to keep are only appealing for simplicity of spacers etc. I've considered a duke 916 or 748 front end and the front end from a srad but i already have 3 sets of wheels and i'd need 2 more front wheels at least. The srad stuff is quite popular lately so expensive and whilst the duke stuff is readily available it carries the Ducati badge so is expensive anyway.

There were some sp model forks that had the compression adjustment but they are like rocking horse poop and the last pair i saw for sale went for £500 and had grazes from a crash.

RGV forks?

Replace with something newer like gsxr600K4 forks - not too hard from what i've heard and the forks are lighter and better to start with!

Either that or have someone like Maxton 'breathe' on them. Cartridge kits are expensive (at least they are for my 9R) and a tailored tweak by someone who knows what they are doing would be for the better.
